Today we are pleased to announce a new partnership with Appnexus, First Round Capital and Venrock called “Appnexus Accelerate,” a new market development program to help emerging real time advertising companies. As part of the program we will work closely with the Appnexus team to evaluate these companies and fund the very best. Appnexus will provide technical and go to market support for our new portfolio companies. For Tribeca Venture Partners, this partnership creates a structured process for us to capture nearly all the deal flow in the emerging RTB market, perform diligence with arguably the best tech and business team in the space and accelerate the development of our portfolio companies post-investment by leveraging the technical and business development horsepower of Appnexus.
When I first invested in Appnexus several years ago the thesis was pretty simple. RTB will happen and would be a large enough paradigm shift that a new technology platform was required. New and existing companies will leverage that platform to build an entirely new RTB ecosystem. The enabling platform company at the center could be very big and profitable. Appnexus had the team, tech and vision to be that company. While there’s still a lot of work to do, Appnexus has gone a long way toward instantiating that thesis.
In many ways Appnexus Accelerate is the logical extension of the original thesis and like most good deals, it’s a win/ win. We help Appnexus further develop and support the RTB ecosystem and Appnexus helps us find, diligence, fund and scale the best teams and companies in the market.
